TARRYTOWN, NY—More than 50 fireproofing professionals attended a daylong seminar at the DoubleTree Hotel here on Nov. 10 to gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of fire prevention and firestopping.

Topics included International Code Council’s Building Code re-quirements for fireproofing and fire resistance with gypsum barriers; fire resistance and test standards for fireproofing; beams, columns, horizontal assemblies; firestopping – design and installation; International Building Code 2006/2009 special inspection for fireproofing – International Building Code 2012 special inspection for restopping.

The program was sponsored by the National Fireproofing Contractors Association of Hillside, IL, and the Tarrytown (NY)-based Construction Advancement Institute of Westchester & Mid-Hudson Region. The list of attendees included building code officials, fire marshals, fireproofing contractors and firestopping contractors, architects and manufacturers.
